Jim has an open and engaging approach putting integrity at the heart of everything he does. He is pragmatic and able to navigate complex issues and is a firm believer that every problem has a solution.

Summary

Jim brings over 30 years’ experience in HR – across a variety of challenging corporate roles, and variety of industry sectors, including construction; finance and transport. At Abbey National he was the HR lead during the conversion from building society to bank helping to establish a state-of-the-art banking centre in the City of London employing 450 staff. He then went on to hold a number of HR Director roles in the financial services sector.

Jim enjoyed a 10-year period as the HR Director for a Japanese backed investment team based in London investing £1billion by way of acquisitions in a range of sectors including motorway services (Roadchef), hotels (Menzies Hotels), private hospitals (Capio), UK ports, engineering, and finance backed businesses. It was this experience that taught him the intrinsic link between commercial success and people strategy.

Jim’s experience spans Europe, Asia, Australia and the US. He was part of an international turn around team sent in to reverse the losses at Royal Brunei Airlines where he recommended and implemented a reorganisation of the Airline’s management structure. In 2018 he was asked to conduct a high-level review of Oxfam’s senior leadership lifecycle across 26 countries on behalf of the UK Charity Commission.

Jim has recently enjoyed the challenges of working with a range of SMEs and helping management teams to build on their growth and success by harnessing and aligning their people capabilities. He enjoys linking corporate vision and strategy to practical people initiatives and delivering hands on solutions that drive employee engagement.Having worked on the people aspects of buying and selling whole businesses Jim has plenty of experience working with leadership teams during change and uncertainty, embedding cultural change and working with employees on HR transformation.

Jim has a BA Hons in German and Business Studies and is a member of the British Psychological Society.
